Underneath
2005
Digital C-Prints
20"H x 20"W each
Underneath is a series of digital photographs. Surgical markings and illustrations are revealed as an ambiguous epidermal surface is peeled back. Dotted lines, arrows, and cross hairs mark the body as a site of surgical malleability. The images present a visual allusion to the way in which our manipulation and control of the body becomes embedded in our psyche. What do we see when we peel back the layers of our hopes, fears, and ambivalence towards the human body?
